Natalie Wolchover Wins Award for Young Science Journalists
SAN ANTONIO, October 29, 2017 — Quanta’s senior physics writer, Natalie Wolchover, was presented with the Evert Clark/Seth Payne Award for Young Science Journalists by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing at the ScienceWriters conference on Saturday, October 29, in San Antonio, Texas.
The award, which recognizes outstanding reporting in all fields of science, is given out annually to a young science journalist. Wolchover received the award and the $1,000 prize for four articles published on QuantaMagazine.org:
- “Gravitational Waves Discovered at Long Last”
- “The Quantum Secret to Superconductivity”
- “Visions of Future Physics”
- “A Fight for the Soul of Science”
According to the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, “The panel of judges cited Wolchover for her great range, for “her ‘masterful’ ledes, for her impressive ability to make tough stories enticing (and to explain complex ideas like Bayesian statistics), and for making the people in her stories come alive.”
